Re-introduction

Honestly, I toyed with the need to even craft this here disclaimer.  As if for some reason I owed you an apology or had to cleverly define for you my interests in love and belonging. (Which by the way is a basic human need.)

Truth be told I don’t owe you squat!! However, in the event you want to neatly conceptualize the purpose of this “blog” I’ve meditated on the best explanation I can offer you.  So, I hope this helps.

#DatingWithDev isn’t about airing my dirty laundry. It’s not a personal diary.  It’s not about satisfying your voyeuristic urges or some deviant need of my own to be watched.  Nor is it a modern quest for fantasy love.  Yes, I want to be married…………………one day.  But it’s not about that either.

It’s about normalizing for young adults this crazy thing called “dating” in the 21^st century.  It’s an opportunity to enlighten, encourage, and entertain as I navigate my own journey.  It’s about sparking conversations between men and women about how we get this love thing right.

It’s in this spirit of relative transparency that I share stories, experiences, and life lessons from the lens of a young 30 something Black woman; with hopes that someone can relate.  And maybe they will feel relieved in knowing it ain’t just them.  It’s a platform through which I aspire to teach healthy relationship skills, promote self-awareness, and challenge comfort zones.

It’s as much about me giving my perspective as it is about me receiving yours. Call it an exchange.  And hopefully when it’s all said and done, we’ve examined the depths of our own relationships and core belief systems; and from our time together something is gained that fosters growth, hope, and courage.
